Zuming Cheng was born in March 1972, in Fengyang, Anhui. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Theology from Nanjing Union Theological Seminary and another bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Nanjing Normal University in 1998. In 2004, Zuming received his master’s degree in Chinese Studies from Nanjing University. After four years, he got his Ph.D. degree in history from Nanjing University. He worked as a post-doctoral in the Department of Philosophy, Fudan University until 2009. He was a visiting scholar in overseas universities, like Princeton University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, etc. Now, he is one of the faculty at the Department of History, Nanjing University.
